Goonies May Not Be Good Enough
According to several sources director Richard Donner has for some time stated he was desperately trying to convince Warner Bros. to do a sequel to his 1985 kid adventure flick "The Goonies." He had even been working on a script. Donner was at a special screening of "Superman" this week and was asked about the chances to see the kids all grown up. "Afraid not, " Donner said, " it didn`t live up to the original. "

Lions Gate And Marvel To Go From Comics To DVD
A new agreements announced Tuesday will team Marvel`s 4,700 character library with Lions Gates, at least for eight original animated projects made for DVD release. " The Marvel universe maintains an outstanding and loyal fan base that craves fresh material featuring Marvel's superheroes, " Jon Feltheimer, chief executive officer of Lions Gate said, " We`re confident that we can take Marvel`s extensive library of popular characters with compelling storylines and create action-packed, appealing animated made-for-DVD movies. "

Dues Increase Not Happening For SAG
Screen Actors Guild votes being tabulated at this early stage, indicate that a dissident campaign against proposed dues increases appears to be winning out. In an interview with Variety, SAG president Melissa Gilbert said she was " scared " contemplating what would happen to the union`s strike fund,  if the dues increases are not passed.

Listen! It's "Spider-Man 2!"
If you go here, you can listen to five minutes of the audiobook excerpt from Peter A. David`s novelization of "Spider-Man 2."

Title Screens
If you would like to see the opening title screen for hundreds of classic movies go to Shill's Video Movies Title Screens Page. It`s fun for any movie nut. (the pictures at the top and bottom of this article are posters or one sheets. Go to the sight and you will see that it features the actual title shot from the movie. They've asked that no one link directly for the pictures and we have honored that.)

Altered States
Warner Brothers screenwriter Fernley Phillips is set to write a remake of "Altered States." The original was directed by Ken Russell  and written by Paddy Chayefsky .

Godspeed
Harrison Ford is set to star in "Godspeed," that highly anticipated James Cameron science fiction project for Lightstorm Entertainment. Cameron, who has been absent from regular features since 1997's "Titanic," will not direct but will produce the film. The film occurs on a threatened international space station. Wonder if it goes down? The feature is to begin production in the fall.

Superman Inside Info
Dark Horizons` 'The Smile Face Poster,'with some pretty interesting updates:
" I finally got a word on the casting for McG`s `Superman'. I will tell you this, and tell it to you first: Henry Cavill is Superman. This is the director's favourite and a majority of the fan`s favourite also. Warner Bros. realizes this, and they also see how the casting of Christian Bale for Batman got high-ups from the fanbase. They want to do the same.  Rose Bryne and Selma Blair are `this close' to getting the role of Lois Lane, and one of them will get it. They are the two runner-ups. My bet is on Bryne, but we'll see how things pan out. While Topher Grace auditioned for the role of Jimmy Olsen, apparantly it may (the key word is may) go to The OC co-star Adam Brody. He's a fav because of the aformentioned show, and it seems he is the `hottest' thing in his category. The WB wants hot, young stars for this movie while not still filling it with horrid choices (Ashton Kutcher, Beyonce Knowles). Now comes the main event. I can safely say that you can expect Johnny Depp to be the next Lex Luthor. That is, because he is the studio's favourite and McG wants to work with him. He`s tied because he`s not exactly sure if he wants to accept, and he also has Charlie And The Chocolate Factory filming soon under the direction of Tim Burton. But WB and McG are really trying to nab Depp, since he turned out the most viable in his screentest (I heard it was `f**king amazing'). If he can't do it or doesn't want to, then expect the role to go to an up and rising comedian or someone in that theory. (In an hours later communique the same writer said, `I was mistaken, Johnny Depp is not up for Lex Luthor, but rather for Jor-El. He was up for Luthor but requested to try out for The Man of Steel's father instead.') And that's about it. The film`s rolling, though, I can surely tell you that. J.J. Abrams' script is getting tons of rewrites, and I hear for the better, and Warner Bros. wants this out by no latter than Summer 2006. Superman WILL fly again " As always, reports like these point as much to flux as anything solid. We`ll let you know about future buzz.
