MOVIE & TV NEWS

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
Guillermo del Toro spoke to SCI FI Wire  about "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" saying that the film will feature killer robots and a new character, the spectral B.P.R.D. agent Johann Kraus. He said: "Yeah, actually, everybody will be back, except Agent Myers, . . . the only non-comic-book-based character of the first one. And we're bringing in Johann Kraus, the ectoplasmic agent from the comics. The idea is, in a strange way, not very different from Pan's Labyrinth. It's a clash between the real world and the fantasy world, you know? And how the world of humans is destroying, eroding, imagination. There will be killer robots, period. Gorilla-sized, but not gorillas." "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" begins shooting in April in Budapest and London for Universal Studios.

3:10 to Yuma
Variety has listed new additions to the cast of the remake of the 1957 Glenn Ford/Van Heflin western classic "3:10 to Yuma." The Elmore Leonard story tells of captured gang leader Ben Wade and the rancher who vows to deliver him to the train that will take him to justice. Christian Bale will take up the role of the racher, with Russell Crowe as the bandit. Other cast members are Peter Fonda, Gretchen Mol, Dallas Roberts, Ben Foster, Alan Tudyk and Vinessa Shaw. James Mangold will direct the film this fall for Relativity Media.

Warner Bros. Online Going Down
Warner Brothers confirmed that Warner Brothers Online, one of the first studio sites producing original entertainment for the Internet, is being shut down. The Los Angeles Times said that the unit had "become a shadow of its former self, when, in the late 1990s, it created the Entertaindom site, which offered original short-form entertainment that featured some top-name stars, a celebrity talk show called God and the Devil Show, and cartoons featuring the Looney Tunes characters. The operation, however, gradually wound down after AOL acquired Time Warner in 2001, cutting Entertaindom's budget and prompting the departure of key executives Jeff Weiner and Jim Moloshok, who wound up at Yahoo! The unit subsequently became a promotional unit for Warner Bros. movies."

Blade Won't See The Sunrise
Comic Book Movie.com quotes Jill Wagner, who plays Krista Starr on "Blade: The Series" as saying: "Just wanted to say thanks again to all of you who supported me and Blade the Series. I was just informed today that there will be NO 2nd season of Blade the Series. I really enjoyed playing Krista and i hope that i did her justic at least for one season! However, that is not the end of Jill Wagner's acting career. I will keep you guys posted on what's next for me. Again i say thanks for the support. Hey, there is always the DVD right????"

Iron Man
Robert Downey, Jr. will wear the armor in "Iron Man," Paramount Pictures announced. Filming is slated, with Jon Favreau is directing, in February in Los Angeles. The budgeted exceeds $100 million, and will be the first feature film to be produced independently by Marvel Entertainment. Kevin Feige, Marvel president of production, said: "The Marvel characters are not just about how high they jump or how fast they fly, they're about their character flaws. They're about their inner demons. They're about the struggles that they go through between being a man and being a hero. In every casting announcement we've done, people in their mind's eye have their own view of it and let us know about it. We're used to it. The point is, we looked at everybody, and we found the best person for the role. It's as confident a casting move as we've ever done. The proof will be in the pudding, but he is Tony Stark."

Green's Production Deals
Stoopid Monkey Prods., the production company of Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, has inked a two-picture deal with Dimension Films. The deal is will be the first venture in film producing for the  creators of Cartoon Network's "Robot Chicken." Their first project will be a stop-motion animated Christmas holiday feature titled "Naughty or Nice," written and co-directed by Senreich and comic book writer Geoff Johns. Green will direct the voice-actors and provide the voice of at least one of the main characters. The second project is a live-action untitled comedy, written by Tom Root, co-head writer/co-producer/director of "Robot Chicken." Details of the project are under wraps.
