Dark
Knight News
Lots
of movement in the cave these days. The
San Jose Mercury News spoke to Heath
Ledger about the part of the Joker. The actor said: "I
still feel like it's a character I've never done before, and I'm going
to be donning a mask. I'm not really thinking about the commercial consequences.
Maybe I should be. But at this point, it's just an exciting next step."
Also Moviehole.net reports
that Rachel McAdams
may be joing the cast of the sequel, while Batman-on-Film.com
thinks she may be being considered for the role of Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman.
The
Mist
UGO.com
quotes Thomas Jane
as saying the following about Frank
Darabont's feature film version of Stephen
King's "The Mist":
"Well, I have an e-mail from Frank right
here. Why don't we open it and see what's going on with The Mist? [reads]
He says that he just heard my deal closed today, and he's happy and looking
forward to working with me." The
Dimension Films
project begins production this Spring.

The
New York Daily News has posted an article about director Zack
Snyder and actor Gerard
Butler putting the Frank
Miller historical tale to the sword. Butler said: "I
trained so hard for this particular piece - it was fifteen guys and it
all worked fine in the gym when you knew that Johnny comes, and then David
and then Chad. But then suddenly you dress them all the same as Persians
and you're like, 'Who the f - - - [is who]?' At the last minute, we're
running out of time, and Zack came over to me and said, 'Look,
I think maybe we should use a stuntman.' I
think he just didn't know how badass I was yet."

Free
Blockbuster Rental
Hoping
to lure back some of the customers it has lost to Netflix,
Blockbuster is trying a promotion that will give a free movie rental for
each Netflix address flap brought in. In Home
Media Retailing magazine, John Antioco, Blockbuster head honcho,
said: "We want these movie fans to experience
getting the movies they want without the wait so they never have to be
without a movie." Yeah, rather than have
a stack sit on the table for months.
The
Innocent Man
George
Clooney, Grant
Heslov and Warner
Independent Pictures have picked up the rights to John
Grisham's non-fiction book "The
Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town."
It is a true story about how a gross miscarriage of justice sent innocent
Ron Williamson to Oklahoma's death row for 11 years. A big part of the
evidence against Williamson was the eyewitness testimony of the man who
was ultimately himself convicted of the murder.
The
Express
"The
Express" is the true story of Ernie Davis,
the first black player to win college football's Heisman Trophy. While
no one has been cast in the role of Davis, Gary
Fleder will direct and Dennis
Quaid will play Davis' coach. Davis, who broke college football
records and racial barriers in the early 1960s playing at Syracuse University,
was drafted into the NFL, but his career was cut short when he was diagnosed
with leukemia. Production starts in March.
The
Sarah Connor Chronicles
Thomas
Dekker will jump from Zach in "Heroes"
to the role of John Connor in Fox's
drama pilot "The Sarah Connor Chronicles,"
a "Terminator"
spin off project. IMDb says the
show: "Set after the events in 'Terminator
2' Sarah Connor and her son John, trying to stay under-the-radar from
the government as they plot to destroy the computer network Skynet in hopes
of preventing Armageddon." Sarah
Connor will be played by Lena
Headey.
