C Wayne Owens' Movie & TV News is a daily newsletter featuring news gathered from all over the net with the newest and hottest movie and tv scoops. It is heavily weighted towards SF and Fantasy film, but if it's news (and not just Celeb gossip) it will be here, and be here weeks before the TV News shows even touch on it.

MOVIE & TV NEWS

Live Action JLA?
Comics Continuum has been looking into a lot of rumors about  a possible Justice League live-action television series. The CW's Smallville has featured appearances by versions of Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg, Green Arrow and Martian Manhunter. The first three of those are set to return to the show on an upcoming episode called "Justice." The episode, under tight network security, will be one of the series' most expensive.  An inside source told the Continuum that DC Comics heroes will probably be appearing in yet another episode before the end of the sixth season. Al Gough, executive producer, denies  plans for a Justice League series. If a second "League" episode happens, air time seems to point towards May sweeps.

Spike & The Riots
Variety reports that Spike Lee will be directing an as yet untitled drama the 1992 Los Angeles riots sometime next year. Lee told Variety that he, a New Yorker,  had vivid memories of the rioting, which came as he was screening his biopic "Malcolm X" for studio heads. He says: "This isn't about some cavalcade of stars, but rather a truthful and realistic examination of what happened, what the ramifications were and where we are now, in hopes that something like this doesn't happen again. All the things Malcolm X was talking about were happening. Assistants were running into the room, passing them notes. 'Do you want us to order a helicopter to come into the studio to get you home?' "You could see it in their faces, watching this movie, wondering if L.A. was burning down, and if the world was coming to an end . . . it was very scary. I went straight to LAX, and my ass was on the red eye."

Miles Davis
TMZ confirms that not only will Don Cheadle  star in, but he will also be directing the proposed biography of jazz legend Miles Davis. Chris Wilkinson and Steve Rivele will write the script and producer Cary Brokaw will be financing the film independently.

Star Trek XI
It's finally official: Variety confirms that J.J. Abrams will not only be producing but also be directing Paramount's prequel to "Star Trek."  C.H.U.D. confirmed that the film isn't scheduled to hit theatres until Summer 2009, a year later than reports had previously indicated. Speculation is that the delay is due to giving the Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci more time to develop the script.

Bunny Lake Is Missing
Joe Carnahan is in negotiations to direct a remake of the 1965 thriller "Bunny Lake is Missing." Variety says Reese Witherspoon is set to star. Dark Horizons describes the original this way: "Otto Preminger directed the original which surrounds the events that occur after a woman reports that her daughter Bunny Lake has gone missing. When police find no evidence that she even existed, they being to question the woman's sanity." Doug Wright will do a rewrite of his own script with Carnahan.

Nobody
AiT-PlanetLar's Larry Young visited this past weekend the set of "Nobody," an hour-long pilot for ABC Family. The show, based on the comicbook written by Sharon Cho and Alex Amado and drawn by Charles Adlard tells of a mother who sacrifices her life to save her daughter, only to the price is that she has been erased from the memories of her family and the world.  The pilot is written by Kevin Murphy and directed by Jeff Woolnough. Dawn Stern will play the title role.
