Pirates
of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
SCI
FI Wire spoke to Terry
Rossio, co-writer of the Pirates of the Caribbean film trilogy,
who said: "The most difficult thing about
writing a trilogy is coming up with the climactic ending of the trilogy.
So for that third film, you have not only the usual challenges of coming
up with an ending, but somehow you have to have the ending of all endings.
The one thing for me that's unique about At Worlds End is that there's
a sense of finality to it. Everybody on set feels it as we're winding down
shooting. This is a giant, epic fantasy trilogy, and it's coming to a close.
There's resolution to the characters. It is that sort of culmination of
the storyline. It's coming to a climax. What couldn't be there in Dead
Man's Chest is present in At Worlds End. And that's kind of interesting."
IMDb's Plot outline for the film reads:
"Captain Barbossa, Will Turner and Elizabeth
Swann must sail off the edge of the map, navigate treachery and betrayal,
and make their final alliances for one last decisive battle."
Everyone is really pushing that this is the last one. Are you buying it?
"Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End"
opens Memorial Day weekend.
A
Dog's Breakfast
MGM
has announced that they have picked up worldwide rights to "A
Dog's Breakfast." Not terribly interesting
until you find out that the dark comedy was shot in Vancouver by the cast
and crew of MGM's "Stargate
Atlantis" and "Stargate
SG-1" while on hiatus. It was writtten and directed by David
Hewlett, who plays Dr. McKay on "Atlantis." The story is about
a brother and sister who have always driven each other crazy, but when
the sister returns home with her new TV star fiance, the brother goes over
the edge and tries to break them up. Hewlett and his real-life sister Kate
Hewlett play the siblings, while Paul
McGillion (Dr. Beckett on "Atlantis") plays the fiance. Christopher
Judge (Teal'c on "SG-1"), Rachel
Luttrell (Teyla on "Atlantis") also star. The film, shot in high-definition,
had a budget of less than $1 million. Film clips were recently uploaded
on YouTube and was watched nearly
100,000 times.
Justice
League
Luke
Cage
When
IESB spoke to Jamie
Foxx, he officially took his name off the table to play the lead. He
said: "I don't think [it will happen].
Sometimes you've got windows to do things, and if you do it cool, and if
you don't do it, let it go." I didn't
even know he had been considered. Tyrese
Gibson has been listed for some time now.
Stargate
SG-1
Beau
Bridges was talking to Comingsoon.net
about the status of the upcoming Stargate movies. They quote him as saying:
"They're talking about doing a couple of
movies. I haven't actually signed on the dotted line, but there is talk
about it." Both film scripts, Bridges
said, were thought to be complete.
The
Talisman
TNT
and Steven Spielberg
plan to bring the Stephen
King-Peter Straub
novel "The Talisman"
to the cable channel. The network has given the green light to a six-hour
limited-series adaptation, to premiere in summer 2008, of the novel. "Talisman"
tells the story of a boy on a quest through this world and a parallel world
known as the Territories, with the goal of obtaining a mysterious talisman
to save his dying mother's life. He later finds that the object will also
spare the life of his mother's "twinner," Queen Elizabeth of the Territories.
Ehren Kruger will
write the screenplay.
