"Voyage of the Unicorn" Movie Review

92. Voyage of the Unicorn

A professor and his daughters are attacked by Trolls in the middle of the evening.
Then they are saved by a pair of magical sailors who take them aboard a mystical ship to a distant land. And that's in the first couple of minutes.
What follows covers nearly every kind of mystical creature you've ever heard of, and is a mythic quest in the best of terms.
Based on the highly enjoyable book "Voyage of the Basset," this one delivers time and again.

A Hallmark production starring Beau Bridges as the befuddled father and scholar who must go to a place where his family seems to be the pivitol players in an ancient prophecy upon which all the land depends for survival.
The evil trolls are trying to kill them, and the heroes are trying to solve the magical puzzle and gather Monsters and warriors that will allow them to save Oberon and Titania's fairyland to contine to reign in peace and beauty.

If there is anyone with a spark of imagination in your house, someone who dreams of fantasy and adventure in the purest terms, they will fall in love with this story.
Unicorns, Minotaurs, Dragons, Gorgons, Harpies, Fairies and many more are all players in this epic little quest drama.
But the aspect that is most important, the thing that makes this one so nice, is family. The love of one for another, the legacy of a mother who has passed away and yet left so much love behind that she still shapes the important days.

This was originally a two part mini-series, so it is a little long. It doesn't smack you in the face with special effects, either. But, believe it or not, it doesn't need to do anything different.
This one proves what the Beatles sang, "All You Need is Love."
