Justice League
Unlimited
The Justice League animated
series is going be bigger than you thought. Before the opening theme of
the season opener of Justice League Unlimited, we will be treated to more
than 60 heroes. "We've got a heckuva lot more characters, pretty much a
full roster of DC heroes," director Joaquim Dos Santos told The Continuum
last weekend at Wizard World Los Angeles. "It's pretty much going to be
bigger and badder. It's going to be huge. The opening teaser a huge
shot of the interior of the Watchtower and it's literally just packed with
every character you can imagine. I know it's going to be a pause-fest going
on, where people are picking out heroes." Other Changes Dos Santos, who
is directing along with Dan Riba, said he's already got five episodes for
the upcoming seaosn. "They've done away with the two-part format. It's
just 30-minute episodes," he told the Continuum. "The way it works out
there's a core group, and they'll take a team of two or three other heroes
on an adventure with them. There's basically a team leader and then the
new guys on the team, the rookies. Other than that, there's no real format.
It can kind of go anyway in wants." Dos Santos directed the opener for
the season, "Initiation." Green Arrow figures prominently in the episode,
we are told, and that Supergirl and Captain Atom play key roles. "From
the get-go, there's huge consequences," he said. "People will be taken
out of the game. Stuff will matter. When a character's injured, he's injured.
He's out for a while." What does he think about the new approach to the
series? "I flipped out," he said. "I didn't think they were able to pull
it off. Just logistically for a production coordinator to handle 60 characters
from the get-go, it's a huge undertaking. Not should it be more fun for
the viewers, but for us, too. I think it keeps it interesting because we're
not just handling the same characters every episode. For us it's fun ...
one show will be Captain Atom with Supergirl and Green Arrow and another
show will be Superman with Hawk or whomever." So watch for Justice League
Unlimited returning in August on the Cartoon Network.

Toy Story 3, No
Pixar, May Hit Big Screen
Walt Disney Studio
Co. Chief Dick Cook, believes that "Toy Story 3" is going to debut in theatres
rather than a direct-to-video release. Cook told Toon Zone, "These are
two of the most beloved characters in the last generation. Buzz and Woody
are fantastic characters, and I think that is something that would fit
on the big screen nicely." Pixar is unlikely be part in the creation of
"Toy Story 3."

Nickelodeon and
Nick at Nite to Become Two Separate Networks
ShowBizData
is reporting that Nickelodeon has plans to identify its Nick at Nite programming
block as a separate network. This then will produce two separate Nielsen
ratings, and that will drop the ratings on some rival cable networks down
a notch.

Monster TV
Bill
Diamond Productions, producer of the Fox series Dr. Rock's Dinosaur
Adventures, worked along with the Jim Henson team on The Dark Crystal and
Labyrinth, and created Audrey II for the original national tour of Little
Shop Of Horrors, told Fangoria that if Angel became a puppet this season,
why not the classic Universal monsters? “ A half-hour program
in which the famous monsters develop their own television show, " Diamond
said, " Their fan base has disappeared over the years, and they realize
that there are a lot of TV reality shows out there, so they decide to create
their own channel. The lead character is Boris Von Frankenstein, who sends
these two bats who work for him out to gather all the creatures and get
them involved with the Monster TV station. They turn the castle and the
old lab into a TV studio and create their own shows.

Recommended Film You May Never Have Heard Of,

Should See.
#1: 7
Faces Of Dr. Lao
This won an Oscar
for Make up, but it is not
the kind of film
that one would think of as an
award winner. It
has the feel of Roger Corman
and George Pal,
with a hint of Harryhausen thrown
in. It is simple,
and while seeming simplistic it
is far from that.
It humbly powerful. There are a
thousand reasons
to belittle and put down this film.
And if you go in
with that mindset, you will find
them all. But,
if you give it a willing suspention of
disbelief and let
the magic that hints around every

you, this will be a little gem that
you treasure.
