Dungeons & Dragons 2? 'NYPD Blue' Still Growing Jessalyn Gilsig is going to do at least five episodes of ABC's veteran cop drama "NYPD Blue." Gilsig, who also has a recurring role on FX's "Nip/Tuck," will play a detective. Elsewhere in the world of TV casting: *Vincent Pastore will be in a three-episode guest arc on ABC's "The Practice." It's another role that might reappear on David E. Kelley's new legal series for ABC. Pastore is also doing double duty and is returning to HBO's mob drama "The Sopranos" for an episode, as Big Pussy. *Jason Isaacs will join NBC's "The West Wing" for a three-episode arc on NBC's "The West Wing," playing a photojournalist who is also a potential love interest for Donna Moss (Janel Moloney). *Stephanie Lamelin is now in the cast of Sci Fi Channel's two-hour pilot "Anonymous Rex," that concerns two private investigators (Sam Trammell, Daniel Baldwin) who are evolved dinosaurs. Lamelin will play the Baldwin's character's daughter. *Eric Nenninger has been tapped for the cast of the WB Network's comedy pilot "Then Came Marriage." The show is about a young married couple and all their single friends. *Ricky Mabe will be in another WB comedy pilot, "Commando Nanny," telling the tale of a British comando-turned-Beverly Hills nanny. Mabe will play one of the kids straining under the nanny's care. Time Travel for Dummies Summit Entertainment has acquired "Time Travel for Dummies" by Stephen Falk and Francis Stokes. The story concerns three hapless pals (Bill, Ted & ?, oh, sorry) who make use of a time machine to get out of life's chores, with unforseen consequences. ![]() ![]()
'Star Wars': The DVD Extras LucasFilm has released a tentative list of "extras" for the upcoming four-disc box set of the original Star Wars trilogy. They would include a 2 1/2-hour documentary about George Lucas's "vision," another half-hour documentary about how the characters came to be, another 20-minute documentary about the SPFX used in the films, a preview of Episode III, plus hundreds of still photos, posters, and other artwork. They also intend to include "Star Wars Battlefront" -- a computer game demo. LucasFilm on Monday confirmed reports that Episode III will be released domestically on Thursday, May 19, 2005, in a "near-simultaneous release around the world." ![]() NBC Looking For A Monster Hit NBC is planning a TV spin-off of Universal's (a studio NBC just aquired) upcoming monster movie Van Helsing, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday. Called Transylvania, the series will premiere as early as this fall. NBC also expects to develop a Van Helsing video game for both PlayStation 2 and Xbox; also a Universal theme park attraction; an animated DVD movie (featuring the voice of Hugh Jackman, who plays Van Helsing in the movie); and plans to create a line of "Gothic-style clothing." ![]() Live Action Version Of Anime "Witch Hunter Robin" Scheduled For Sci-Fi Anime News Network reports that Sci-Fi Network has picked up a live action version of Witch Hunter Robin, to be produced by Roy Lee(The Ring) and Doug Davison. They project that it will appear on the network in 2004 or 2005. ![]() "3000 Degrees" Put Out Coming Soon reports that Warner Bros. Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have announced that they have plans to make the firefighting drama "3000 Degrees." The story was about an inferno at a century-old storage building in Worcester, Massachusettes in December 1999. The press release announced that "the process of making a film of this size and scope is complex and demanding, and requires the support and participation of many groups, including various firefighting organizations and a number of individuals. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we no longer have such support. We have therefore decided not to move ahead with this project at this time." Ed Harris, Woody Harrelson and Bill Crudup were all cast in the fact-based drama that was to have been directed by Danny Boyle ("28 Days Later"). Movielink Launches New "Cartoon Classics" Section on Website Movielink announced today the launch of a its new "Cartoon Classics" section for its website. Movielink is making available over 350 half-hours of classic cartoon programming for download. Included are favorites like Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends, Casper the Friendly Ghost, and Mr. Magoo.
