Dungeons & Dragons 2?

Studio Hamburg's WorldWide Pictures (WWP) is partnering with Joel Silver's Silver Pictures on a sequel to the mildly interesting Dungeons & Dragons. Warner Bros. picked up "Dungeons and Dragons 2" for distribution Stateside and in selected international territories. Gerry Lively is directing and it is to be shot in Europe this year.

'NYPD Blue' Still Growing
Jessalyn Gilsig is going to do at least five episodes of ABC's veteran cop drama "NYPD Blue." Gilsig, who also has a recurring role on FX's "Nip/Tuck," will play a detective.
Elsewhere in the world of TV casting:
*Vincent Pastore will be in a three-episode guest arc on ABC's "The Practice." It's another role that might reappear on David E. Kelley's new legal series for ABC. Pastore is also doing double duty and is returning to HBO's mob drama "The Sopranos" for an episode, as Big Pussy.
*Jason Isaacs will join NBC's "The West Wing" for a three-episode arc on NBC's "The West Wing," playing a photojournalist who is also a potential love interest for Donna Moss (Janel Moloney).
*Stephanie Lamelin is now in the cast of Sci Fi Channel's two-hour pilot "Anonymous Rex," that concerns two private investigators (Sam Trammell, Daniel Baldwin) who are evolved dinosaurs. Lamelin will play the Baldwin's character's daughter.
*Eric Nenninger has been tapped for the cast of the WB Network's comedy pilot "Then Came Marriage." The show is about a young married couple and all their single friends.
*Ricky Mabe will be in another WB comedy pilot, "Commando Nanny," telling the tale of a British comando-turned-Beverly Hills nanny. Mabe will play one of the kids straining under the nanny's care.

Time Travel for Dummies
Summit Entertainment has acquired "Time Travel for Dummies" by Stephen Falk and Francis Stokes. The story concerns three hapless pals (Bill, Ted & ?, oh, sorry) who make use of a time machine to get out of life's chores, with unforseen consequences.

The Simpsons Movie, Still In The Works
Lisa Simpson ( the world's perpetual 8 year old) will still be in "The Simpsons" movie, but the voice of Lisa Simpson, Yeardley Smith, said the film will not be made until after the series is over, and there are still at least two seasons to go. Smith told reporters that it will take three years to make the movie because "animation takes forever." Smith said to AP Radio, that she's still glad to hear about the movie, "My wish for the show is that it go out with a bang and not a pimple. And if we can do a movie and it can be as good as our best episodes, I'm thrilled. I think that would be wonderful." Smith also said she hopes the writers can preserve Lisa's childlike sense of humor in the movie.  "If they just make her too esoteric, too philosophical, too bright, too much the voice of reason then she really becomes insufferable," the actress said. "You have to always, always, always remember that she's 8 and that she's a huge Itchy and Scratchy fan, that she loves Krusty the Clown. And that in spite of her beliefs and her issues, she's a kid."

The New York Post indicates that the USA Network is working on a potential alternative history (ie. the South winning the Civil War) series.

'Star Wars': The DVD Extras
LucasFilm has released a tentative list of "extras" for the upcoming four-disc box set of the original Star Wars trilogy. They would include a 2 1/2-hour documentary about George Lucas's "vision," another half-hour documentary about how the characters came to be, another 20-minute documentary about the SPFX used in the films, a preview of Episode III, plus hundreds of still photos, posters, and other artwork. They also intend to include "Star Wars Battlefront" -- a computer game demo. LucasFilm on Monday confirmed reports that Episode III will be released domestically on Thursday, May 19, 2005, in a "near-simultaneous release around the world."

Whoever Knows Fear Burns At Man-Thing's Touch
A German movie site called Screenland Movieworld has a synopsis of the plot for the horror adaptation alas it's in German. Superhero Hype, however, lucked into a fan translation, and it reads, " Kyle Williams saw his return as a sheriff to his hometown of Baywater as a career opportunity. What he couldn't have foreseen was the reawakening of an ancient power in the swampy river branch - a power as old and horrible as the swamp itself. A spirit called `Mantokwe` by the natives,  the Man-Thing. Frederick Schist, owner of a resident oil firm, has lied and betrayed the local natives, and is now exploiting their land. To cover up his machinations, he has killed two men and left their bodies to the swamp. Kyle must now choose between what is right and a career supported by Schist`s great influence and power. He must find the power to face his past, the demonic Man-Thing and survive. "

NBC Looking For A Monster Hit
NBC is planning a TV spin-off of Universal's (a studio NBC just aquired) upcoming monster movie Van Helsing, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday. Called Transylvania, the series will premiere as early as this fall. NBC also expects to develop a Van Helsing video game for both PlayStation 2 and Xbox; also a Universal theme park attraction; an animated DVD movie (featuring the voice of Hugh Jackman, who plays Van Helsing in the movie); and plans to create a line of "Gothic-style clothing."

Live Action Version Of Anime "Witch Hunter Robin" Scheduled For Sci-Fi
Anime News Network reports that Sci-Fi Network has picked up a live action version of Witch Hunter Robin, to be produced by Roy Lee(The Ring) and Doug Davison. They project that it will appear on the network in 2004 or 2005.

"3000 Degrees" Put Out
Coming Soon reports that Warner Bros. Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have announced that they have plans to make the firefighting drama "3000 Degrees." The story was about an inferno at a century-old storage building in Worcester, Massachusettes in December 1999. The press release announced that "the process of making a film of this size and scope is complex and demanding, and requires the support and participation of many groups, including various firefighting organizations and a number of individuals. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we no longer have such support. We have therefore decided not to move ahead with this project at this time." Ed Harris, Woody Harrelson and Bill Crudup were all cast in the fact-based drama that was to have been directed by Danny Boyle ("28 Days Later").
