"Full Metal Panic" On Anime Net Which Wood In The Great White? James Woods is now out of the black comedy The Big White, and replaced by Woody Harrelson. Harrelson will play a frozen body that is stolen by an Alaskan estate agent to be the cornerstone in an insurance scam. Robin Williams will play the estate agent. The film also stars Holly Hunter, Giovanni Ribisi and Tim Blake Nelson. The Hollywood Reporter says Woods dropped out due to a schedule conflict. ![]() ![]() ![]() Rudolph Valentino Film Re-Discovered A single copy of Rudolph Valentino's silent film "Beyond the Rocks" was recently found in the Netherlands, and is the only known existing print of the 1922 classic, the Amsterdam Film Museum reported Saturday. The movie is "basically complete and basically undamaged," said Jan van den Brink, Film Museum historian. "Beyond the Rocks," was directed by Sam Wood, and was the only film in which Valentino starred opposite silent era legend Gloria Swanson. The film, Van den Brink said, was part of the estate of a film collector from the city of Haarlem. "Because (the collector) was worried they would be stolen, he took the different reels and hid them in different warehouses," he told Dutch television. "We literally had to root through 2,000 canisters to find out what exactly was in them," he said. It was the 24th of Valentino's 32 films, and no negatives or prints were known to exist until this time. The 81-minute film is being restored and will be shown some time in 2005. ![]() Punisher 2: Jigsaw Returns As was hinted weeks ago at Wizard World Los Angeles, Thomas Jane's Punisher's next on-screen adversary will be Jigsaw, this according to USA Today. "He's this rageful guy who had his face horribly mutilated by The Punisher," said the actor. "He's all stitched up back together, but his whole shredded, scarred body looks like a jigsaw." Moviehole has an interview with John Travolta where he discusses the new film. "I think the key here is the more serious he was, the funnier he became. I wasn't sure I was going to play this until the last minute because I had to see what Thomas Jane was doing and the rest of the cast. When I found out they were playing it dead serious, and that was pretty funny, I thought, 'Okay. I'm gonna play it subtle and serious and it will be funny.' It's funny because most comic strip movies think they have to do the other and the more we played it like we were in a Scorsese movie, the funnier it became." ![]() ABC News Is Experimenting with Digital Delivery ABC News reported that it has plans to experiment with numerous forms of digital delivery systems for distributing its programming. Bernard Gershon, head of ABC's Digital Media Group, said that the content is not affected by any of the various platforms. "The experience will be different but the product will be the same," Gershon said. "However, if you look at it on a [cellular] wireless device, it's going to be about three frames per second, whereas if you look at it through a broadband connection, it's going to be similar to a television experience." ABC has previously experimented with producing programs exclusively for the Internet like their highly touted "webcast" with Sam Donaldson, but the results were disappointing. The End Of Blade Creature Corner has has reproted about the last of the "Blade" movies. The site reports that according to The Star (always a fine source for considered, dependable news), writer/director David Goyer shot at least "two or three endings" including one in which Wesley Snipes' character dies. Even if this happens, most of us expected it, since there have been rumors for a while New Line is planning to continue the franchise with the characters of Abigail Whistler and Hannibal King, played by Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds respectively. ![]() Last Friend To Stake Out Thursday Slot NBC has let it be known that they are very likely to give the Matt LeBlanc spinoff series, "Joey," the same "Friends" (Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern time) slot that will be open at the end of this season, an NBC executive who spoke on condition of anonymity said on Friday. The network's chief executive, Jeff Zucker, told station affiliates at a meeting this week that that's his preference. Up until a few months ago, a huge burden of expectations has come with that time slot, the one that leads off the prime-time schedule on the most lucrative night on television. But its success of "The Apprentice" for NBC on Thursdays has taken some of the pressure off. "It clearly has become our improbable replacement for `Friends,'" Zucker said. "I could never have predicted it." ------------ Hugh Jackman, The New 007? MI6 reports that they have tracked down the source of all rumors about Hugh Jackman becoming the next James Bond: Hugh Jackman! Jackman admitted to fans in California this week that "I started the rumor, I mean, who wouldn't want to play James Bond". The rumours peaked earlier this year, despite Hugh's agent confirming that "Hugh has never officially been approached to play the role of James Bond". ![]()
