The Whedon-verse Update
There are a lot of places to get more news about what's happening in the Whedon-verse, sites like Whedonesque   (where you'll find out about Movies, Comics and such. Like the Adventures of a Vampire Slayer in the future called "Fray" or the above new title) There's even Josswhedon.net , where we can see why this young man is always going to be a force to be reckoned with. E! Online revealed the future of Joss Whedon's "Buffy"/"Angel" franchise as "Angel" is about to end: "Angel is not coming back. At least not as the weekly TV series we now know and love. It sucks, and it's wretched and wrong. But the sooner we all accept that, the sooner we can move on. That's the consensus I've gotten from various sources -- the WB suits aren't changing their minds on Angel.
Though the cancellation seemed like a whack-job, crack-induced whim to us fans, Frog net insiders tell me the higher-ups feel strongly that Angel had 'limited moneymaking potential,' due to limited advertising revenue and what they consider to be a substantial budget. The fan base is clearly devoted, but these bigwigs see little hope of that audience expanding. Still, the best news is this: According to sources, the finale is supremely open-ended (Amy says it 'opens new doors' and 'doesn't tie up any strings'), and I hear the Powers That Be at the WB have approached Joss Whedon about doing at least a movie-of-the-week or two (possibly as many as six) next season--thanks in large part to the folks at Save Angel. Actor James Marsters says "I think a Buffy movie, or an Angel movie-of-the-week is more likely to happen now, and they may be given better budgets, seeing this kind of interest, because there's a feeling that there's a guaranteed audience. So, the effort that I've seen, it is not in vain"" Most of this we had reported previously

It's Kinda Easy Bein' Blue
The Toronto Star talked to Rebecca Romijn-Stamos about X-Men 3 and she says she's looking forward to getting back into the blue body paint. "'No, I love Mystique,' she laughs. 'People have been waiting their whole lives for these characters to be brought to life. And you don't want to let down the fan base and we definitely felt that pressure. But when you deliver, they are so appreciative. So for the rest of my life I get to be the person that people identify, the actor that people identify with Mystique. That is a huge thrill. You think of Christopher Reeve as Superman, or Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. Wow. I get to be Mystique for the rest of my life.'"

New Digital Disks Will Be Printed On Paper
Sony and Japan's Toppan Printing Co. on Friday revealed the development of a new digital disk, this one made of 51 percent paper, that can store up to five times more information than current DVDs. The new disks are expected to be a lot cheaper to produce than the current type. These will employ the so-called Blu-Ray laser technology.

Romance? Cigarettes? I'll Have The Cake.
Eddie Izzard  has joined the cast of John Turturro's musical, "Romance & Cigarettes."

Mickey Mouse 2.0
The New York Times precently asked, "Can Disney Build a Better Mickey Mouse?" in an article detailing the history of the corporate mascot and what challenges he faced in the 21st century. A series of artists were also commissioned to update The Mouse, including comic book artists like Andy Kubert, Danny Miki, and Frank D'Armata; Teacher's Pet creator Gary Baseman and Fairly Oddparents creator Butch Hartman were also included.

Where In The World Is Robert Rodriguez?
This week's edition of  Entertainment Weekly spoke with Robert Rodriguez about his adaptation of "Sin City" and Bruce Willis' character in it: "He's playing Hartigan, a cop who's retiring. He's got a bad ticker. He might not be 60 (as in the comic), but he'll be up there. We're aging him a little bit-because Bruce, of course, is still badass Bruce". Fans who were worried that Rodriguez might have to give up on other important plans were comforted as Rodriguez confirmed that he's still involved with "John Carter of Mars": "I can still do that movie, because I was assigned to it before I left the DGA. I'll occupy that island of misfit directors like Quentin Tarantino and George Lucas. (Laughs) It's actually quite nice here". BTW: According to Dark Horizons: McConaughey, Harnett and DiCaprio are up for the John Carter character.

Paramount Developing Stuff
Paramount Pictures, who have recently had more than their share of shake-up at the top, has now put a bunch of projects in development and  Dark Horizons' 'Crotchety' tells us what we can expect over the next few years:
**Carrie Ann Moss's deal has been done for "Mission: Impossible 3".
**Scarlett Johanssen is going to be taking more time (scheduling).
**Pete Segal appears to be on board to direct "It's Not You, It's Me", but that could change.
**"Fountainhead" - they are afraid they may alienate their core audience, so they may contemporize the story rather than play it as a period piece.
**"Fast & the Furious" producer Neal H. Moritz wants to do a film based on the classic teen series "21 Jump Street".
**Sam Mendes  may or may not direct "Dance Lessons".
**Alex Cross thriller "Roses are Red" is something the studio wants to go with a grittier edge ala "Narc".
**Both "Naked Jungle" and "Deathlok" are currently under consideration by "Punisher" helmer Jonathan Hensleigh
**"The Eye" along with the potential sequel are being developed for production by the same crew, at the same time.
**PJ Hogan is directing and rewriting "Let's Make Friends". Casting has yet to begin.
**Snoop Dogg is out of "The Longest Yard", so, needless to say, casting is still underway
**David Koepp is scripting "War of the Worlds"
**Stuart Beattie is currently adapting "Without Remorse"
**"Aeon Flux" is currently casting.
**Being written: "Carter Beats the Devil", "The Manny", "Honeymoon from Hell", "Turn", ""Days of the Dead", "The Girl Who Could Fly", "Two Strangers and a Wedding", "Seconds", "Car Show", "To Catch a Thief", "Four Brothers", "Take Me To Your Leader", "Pet Sematary"
**Looking For Writers: "Pro Nanny, "Au Pair", "Paranoia", "Star Fleet Command", "Stranger in a Strangeland", "Homeland Security", Peter Weir's "War Magician", Tony Scott's "Warriors" and an untitled Johnny Knoxville project
**In turnaround: "Adventures of Sinbad the Insurance Salesman", "Book 'Em", "Racewalker"
**Lost In Development Hell: "Carrier", "Sucker", "Disgruntled Former Employee"

Spacek Brings Nice 'Ring' to Video Horror
Sissy Spacek is coming back to the horror genre, where she experienced one of her earliest successes as the heroine of 1976's "Carrie." The Oscar-winning actress will join "The Ring 2," with stars Naomi Watts and Simon Baker  and will be shooting in mid-May.

The Biography of Kurt Cobain: Heavier Than Heaven
The WB Network is developing the original movie about late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. The network bought the rights to Charles Cross' 2001 book, and Robert Munic ("They Call Me Sir") has been brought in to write the script for the untitled film, which could get a shown as early as next season.

Dickerson Replaces Duke on Blacktime, Whitenoise
Movie Hole reports that Ernest Dickerson (“Bulletproof”, “Surviving the Game”) has been hired to  replace Bill Duke as the director of 'Blacktime, Whitenoise', with Dennis Quaid and Kevin Bacon in talks to star. Hp Computers Come To The Rescue Of Classic TV Shows
Warner Bros. and computer giant Hewlett-Packard expected to announce a partnership on Monday in a project to restore classic TV shows and movies to a clarity rivaling current film images. The Los Angeles Times reported that it "underscores the growing importance of digital technology to broadcasters and studios." The Times quoted Vikki Pachera, HP's vice president in charge of global alliances and business development, "When you look at an old film from the '30s, it's just not as enjoyable given what we're used to expecting from the studios these days." She implied that the new technology, would overcome that deficiency. Monday's Wall Street Journal announced that HP has entered into a similar agreement with DreamWorks. The paper reported that the agreement is aimed at going beyond film restoration and make the entire filmmaking process more efficient.

Live TV Is So Much Fun
Fox Television announced Saturday that the decision to tape last week's Wednesday edition of American Idol because of President Bush's news conference and air it on Thursday was a happy coincidence. That gave them a chance to do a retake of guest judge Quentin Tarantino's critique of one of the contestants. Usually the Wednesday installment airs live. That is why, when during the taping of the show, Tarantino used some forbidden language, they were glad to get a chance to do it over again. You see, Tarantino remarked to singer LaToya London: "I've got three words for you: power f***ing house!" a remark that would might produced an uproar akin to Janet Jackson's bare breast if it had gone out live. Asked to redo the line, Tarantino changed it to: "I've got two words for you: power house!" I love live TV.
