![]() ![]() ![]() Berman on the 13th Trek Producer Rick Berman today told Dreamwatch and TrekToday that he has begun work on what could become "Star Trek XI" - "I am involved in the very early stages of what could be the next Star Trek movie. It's something I will be producing with two other producers". Without revealing any major plot points, he does confirm that it'll be a prequel. He is, he revealed, working with fellow "Star Trek: Enterprise" creator Brannon Braga to create a science fiction series set outside the Trek universe. Trekweb speculated that if project is picked up by studio Paramount for development as a full-fledged series, Berman and/or Braga might play a much reduced role in Enterprise's fourth season. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
"Scrubs" star Zach Braff who directed "Garden State" has found a follow-up to his dicrectroial debut project. Braff will team with his brother, Adam, to adapt D. Burn's novel "Andrew Henry's Meadow" for 20th Century Fox. The brothers are to write the screenplay and executive produce the project. "Meadow" is about a boy inventor who escapes suburbia and finds a beautiful meadow where he builds a utopia in the trees. Then he becomes a reluctant hero who leads a band of fellow outcasts back home to awaken their families before it's too late. "Garden State," meanwhile, opens July 30 nationwide. More of Moore Michael Moore ("Bowling for Columbine") confirmed at his official site that his next documentary, "Farenheit 911" has been selected by the Cannes Film Festival to premiere there in competition next month. This is unusual as only the second time in the last 48 years a documentary has been chosen to be in the main competition (the first time being "Bowling for Columbine" in 2002). ![]() Another Wrinkle For A Wrinkle In Time Correspondant Larry sent in this, from the official folk, "Hello all, the scheduled air date for the "Wrinkle" movie has changed. It will now air on Monday, May 10th at 8pm/7c on ABC and not on May 8th as originally reported. We do not expect this to change again as it has been officially announced in press releases, marketing materials, etc." ![]() Hellboy 2? Hero Realm asked director Guillermo del Toro if there was going to be a sequel for Hellboy, he said, "Yeah they already ... we actually had a meeting about it and they want us to see if we can come up with a sequel and if we come up with a story that we feel strongly about. We will." ![]() Quentin Tarantino's proposed "Pulp Fiction" spinoff with John Travolta and Michael Madsen is happening. He said in an interview he gave to the most recent issue of Rolling Stone for Kill Bill 2. "I've got to like turn off now, from the whole kung-fu, spaghetti western homage I've been doing with Kill Bill and get back the one basic underlying story, alright. Kill Bill is something I think a lot of people will enjoy, alright, but not in the same way as say Pulp Fiction. Kill Bill has a story, but it's told different than my other films. But the equation that I would use is if you're a cook, alright, you can cook a meal for yourself or you can cook a meal for your family who you cook for everyday and they're waiting for it. If everyone's in the kitchen with their silverware, banging away, anxiously awaiting what you've cooked up, then it makes you want to do more and more, in turn, getting more creative along the way. Kill Bill has made me want to challenge myself. I'm going to do a war movie, I'm going to do an straight-up action movie and I'm going to do my first sequel. It's a sequel to both Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, actually, it's a sequel and it's a prequel. It's the Vega Brothers, played by Michael Madsen and John Travolta. I have been trying to do it for years, and the more time I take, the older these two guys get. But I've come up with an idea that won't much matter how much they age....the magic of movies. It's going to be great. It'll be funny, and these guys are so great, alright, they're going to be like two oversized mob-men fighting over the last bowl of pasta, that we can't go wrong. It's just going to be John and Michael, and I hope to make this my next movie. We're laying down the pipework for it now."
Man-Thing Sticks To Roots ![]() Indiana Jones Back In Retirement The Indiana Jones triumvirate of Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are all working on other projects that rank, at the moment, higher than the long anticipated Indy 4. Though the fourth installment in the franchise was originally targeted for a release by Paramount on July 4, 2005, the script has been sent back for a rewrite after Lucas decided he was not pleased with the material. Production is now slated for 2005, with a release in 2006. All three men have other films in the works, in the meantime. The Jones film's title remains a secret, but Spielberg and his production crew have reportedly traveled to Europe for locations. The new film will the first time Spielberg has shot in European since Saving Private Ryan. The Indiana Jones postponement may work well for Lucas, as its original projected release date came just five weeks after the final Star Wars installation is due, meaning that the two films could have wound up competing for box office dollars. ![]() Blockbuster Launches Huge Trade-In Program There are over 2,000 Blockbuster Video stores who plan to participate in a new DVD trade-in program. Video Store magazine reported Wednesday that the scheme that will allow customers to trade their used DVDs and get credit they can use the credit to pay for new and used movies and games, rentals, and merchandise. Blockbuster Chairman and CEO John Antioco says, "We believe trading has the potential to drive retail sales of both new and used movies and is yet another way to distinguish ourselves from the competition." Millennium Escapes To DVD DVD Answers announces that Fox Home Video will debut the Lance Henriksen-starring series Millennium on DVD with a boxed set containing season one on July 20. The six-disc package will have full-screen transfers of each episode, plus commentaries on the pilot (by creator/executive producer Chris Carter), ``Gehenna'' (by director David Nutter) and ``The Judge,'' a making-of featurette and another short on the main title design, TV spots and more.
