Flashing
Back To The Beginning
"It
will be another origin story, yes. Well, yes and no,"
director David S. Goyer
is quoted as saying by
SCI FI Wire . The story of The
Flash he wants to film will go back to the beginnings of the
DC
Comics series. Goyer added: "It`s going
to be very different from any other superhero movie coming out or different
from any you've ever seen."
Charles
Roven will be producing the Goyer (who is also producing) script
and, so far, no casting has gone beyond
Ryan Reynolds as the Scarlet Speedster.Roven said that the Goyer Flash
will tell the story of Jay Garrick, who acquires the ability to move at
superhuman speeds after a chemical accident, just as in the original 1939
comic book created by Gardner
Fox and Harry Lampert
.
Loonatics
Change
Not long
ago, everyone carried the
story about the youngster who was fighting to keep Warner
Brothers from changing the classic characters of Looney Tunes
into scary futuristic versions.
Toon Zone has posted a picture of the newer
version that Warners has posted to assure folks they aren`t going to go
to far, and they have stated that they are changing important aspects of
the show, scheduled to debut on Kids`
WB this fall. TZ is also listing the voice cast.

Candles Follow Up
With the
reunion of "The Breakfast
Club " on MTV could it be time to
udate another 1980`s iconic film? Molly
Ringwald has admitted to being in talks for a sequel to "Sixteen
Candles." The 1984 film, directed by John
Hughes , made Ringwald a teen starlet, but she left the spotlight soon
after. Ringwald, 37 (with an 18 year old daughter), said she had been approached
repeatedly about doing the sequel, but only recently read a script that
she liked: "I`ve turned it down for years.
I couldn`t see how it would work. Now, it seems right."
H.P.
Lovecraft Film Festival Call For Entries
Fangoria
says that the organizers of the H.P.
Lovecraft Film Festival have put out a call for
entries for their 12th annual incarnation. The film fest takes place October
7-9 at the Hollywood Theatre in Portland, Oregon. Here is a list of their
jury
members . Their statement is: ``Filmmakers
and artists who are up to the challenge of Naming the Unnameable, Showing
the Unseeable, Speaking the Unspeakable and otherwise drawing the feeble
mind of Man closer to an understanding of the Unknowable Horrors of the
Cosmos should go to
http://www.hplfilmfestival.com/submissions.htm
and download the entry form before it is too late. ''
Early deadline is August 1.

One Watching "The Watchmen
"
This may
not be the first place you have read this, but since some folks may not
have heard, we are putting the final nail in the coffin.
Variety reports that Paramount
Pictures has withdrawn their film adaptation the
Alan Moore Graphic Novel "The Watchmen."
Producers Larry Gordon
and Lloyd Levin
are said to be taking the project, along with British director Paul
Greengrass , to other studios, but it doesn`t look good.
