X-Men
4?
Coming
Soon reports that Shawn
Ashmore said at a press conference: "I
know they are doing a Wolverine
prequel and I've heard a rumor about a Magneto
film . . . those are all in the past like prequels and origin stories,
so I don't know. There are rumors about an 'X-Men 4,' but as far as I've
been told 'X3' was going
to be the last big ensemble 'X-Men'
movie. I would love if they made another one, but I'm not sure that they
will. I have a contract if they make another one, then I have one more
film." And about rumors of a an X-Men
spin-off (or sequel) based on the younger mutants, he asid: "It
could be real. It could have been leaked from somewhere, but officially
from the people who are actually making the movies, I haven't heard anything
like that."
Production
begins in early 2007 for Rogue
Pictures' "Doomsday"
starring Rhona Mitra. Neil
Marshall will write and direct the story set three decades after
a lethal virus tore through a major country, leading to the country's walling
off. The virus, known as "the Reaper," then resurfaces in a different country,
an elite group, lead by Mitra's character, is dispatched to find a cure.
They are then shut off from the rest of the world and must battle a world
that has become a waking nightmare.

by Ahmet Zappa.

Moore's
Elstree Appeal
Roger
Moore has made a plea in hopes that a buyer to come forward to
save the 80-year-old Elstree
Film Studios. The studio, where Alfred
Hitchcock directed, and where both the Indiana Jones and Star Wars
films were produced, were purchased by Hertsmere
Borough Council in 1996 because no other buyer showed up. Moore
said: "Hertsmere Council extended it a
lifeline when it needed it most, and invested heavily. Now that they are
seeking to pass on the ownership, I hope that an equally passionate and
caring owner can be found; and help take the studio into one of the most
exciting periods of film and new media production."
Happy

Shadow
Divers

MGM
Plans 2 Hobbits
Harry
Sloan (MGM's chief executive) spoke to the European Media Leaders
Summit in London and gave some hints about the studio's path to Hobbiton.
First, yes there will be two films and yes, MGM was in advanced talks
with Peter Jackson
to direct the two movies. The first film, he said, is to be a direct adaptation
of The Hobbit, then the second would be made up from "footnotes
and source material connecting 'The Hobbit' with 'Lord of the Rings."
Production, according to Sloan, isn't likely until 2008 or even 2009.
Lost
Moments
ABC
is planning to air "Lost Moments,"
a dozen 30-second bits of never-before-seen footage from upcoming episodes.
The idea is to run them randomly during the network's new series "Day
Break," appearing once per episode beginning Nov. 15, then they
will be moved over to ABC.com.
TiVo
Merging PC & TV
TiVo
wants to add a new dimension to the DVR world. Besides allowing viewers
to record shows from broadcast and cable TV, they now want to let their
owners download movies and other video off the Internet and watch them
directly on their TV sets. Tom Rogers, TiVo CEO, said: "Broadband
video is growing rapidly on the Web, but the television will continue to
be the key way viewers want to watch video. Our overall goal is to provide
as many types of content in as many formats to be displayable on the television
through TiVo." Microsoft
said that users of its Xbox game system
would soon do the same thing, and Apple
announced that it plans to introduce a device, tentatively called iTV,
early next year for the same purpose.
Aguilera
on CSI: NY
First
Kevin Federline
on CSI, and now Christina
Aguilera is going to guest star on "CSI:
New York." The February episode is about
battered women, an issue close to Aguilera's heart. She grew up in an abusive
home and is a major contributor to a women's shelter in her hometown of
Pittsburgh. Anthony Zuiker,
CSI executive producer, says: "Christina's
a fan of the show, and we're excited to have her. The episode will probably
explore the topic of battered women."
While Aguilera's music will be featured in the episode, she won't play
herself.

Variety
reports that Nicolas Cage
has signed on to star in another big screen adaption of a comic book, this
one called "The Sadhu."
Written by Virgin Comics
co-founder Deepak Chopra,
Cage plays a man named James Jenson, a soldier who travels to India during
colonial times and transforms into a spiritual warrior. Sharad Devarajan,
Virgin Comics CEO, said: "The Sadhu is
a bold, visual epic that taps into one of India's most heralded spiritual
traditions."
Bond
Leaves Britain?
Michael
G. Wilson and Barbara
Broccoli are threatening to move the Bond franchise from Britain
saying it's too expensive. Wilson blamed rising costs in the British capital
and blasts the British Government for failing to help. He said: "London
is the most expensive city in the world right now. To bring talent here
and put them up for long periods of time and the cost of doing business
here is a factor." Such a move could mean
that "Casino Royale"
would be the last Bond movie filmed at Pinewood
Studios. A Spokesperson for the UK Film council said: "We
will be doing all we can to ensure that every film that can shoot in the
UK, including Bond, does."
Evolution's
Captain
Chase
Palmer whose fictional mystery thriller about Alfred
Hitchcock, "Number
13," is scheduled to begin shooting this winter with Dan
Fogler as the Master of Suspense, has another controversial project
in the offing. Based on the book "Evolution's
Captain: The Dark Fate of the Man Who Sailed Charles Darwin Around the
World," written by Peter
Nichols, the story follows Robert FitzRoy, the captain of the H.M.S.
Beagle, and the relationship he developed with Charles Darwin.
Double
Cross
Infomercial
producer Mark Williams plans to film the novel "Double
Cross," the story Sam Giancana. Giancana,
nicknamed "Momo" because of his unpredictable vicious behavior, was assassinated
in 1975 just before he was to appear before a Senate committee investigating
CIA and Mafia links to plots to kill Fidel Castro. The 1992 book says that
he ordered the deaths of John F. Kennedy and Mailyn Monroe. Alfonse
Ruggiero Jr. will write the screenplay.
Til
Death Do Us Part
Court
TV is producing its first original scripted series, "'Til
Death Do Us Part." The show will be hosted
by "The Groom Reaper,"
played by filmmaker John
Waters. 13 half-hour episodes have been ordered, each of which
will dramatize stories inspired by true stories of happily married couples
who end up with one murdering the other. Waters says he feels "right
at home as an actor" among the "unbelievably
bizarre and sometimes gruesomely funny stories."
The show will premeire in early 2007 on Court TV and Canadian broadcaster
Global Television
(under the title "Love You to Death").

Aronofsky
Looks Ahead
SCI
FI Wire talked to Darren
Aronofsky, director of the upcoming movie The
Fountain, and he told them that his next film will be either a large-scale
biblical epic (with fantasy elements) or a small, intimate reality based
film. Aronofsky said: "The next project
we haven't announced yet, but . . . we're working on . . . something
that's very, very big and something that's very, very small. I just want
to start shooting something in '07, because [The Fountain] took a long
time, and I want to do something that's going to get me to set a lot quicker.
I mean, [in] the last six years I've worked with actors for [only] 60 days,
and I want to get back to set. We are working on something that's biblical
in nature, and, luckily, that can mean a lot of different things. The big
project is very, very fantasy-based. . . . [And] all my fantasy stuff leans
towards science fiction." Aronofsky's
flim, The Fountain, opens nationwide on Nov. 22.

Play
Misty for Me
A
strong rumor out there on the newsgroups and netsite is that Ben
Affleck is in negotiation to produce and direct the Universal
Pictures remake of Clint
Eastwood's 1967 directorial debut "Play
Misty for Me." Eastwood also starred in the original as a DJ who is
stalked by his ex-lover turned deranged fan who obsesses about him and
the song "Misty."
Jason Smilovic is mentioned
as the writer, and Eastwood himself may also produce. No word if Affleck
would do double duty as Eastwood did in the original.
The
Spirit
Frank
Miller told IGN about about the Will
Eisner adaptation,saying: "We're working
on the script right now. We've got a good strong story to work with, and
we're hoping to be in production either spring or fall. Either that or
The Spirit will be the next thing I shoot. Either me and Robert
[Rodriguez] on Sin City
2 or me on The Spirit. It all depends on where the pieces are on both
projects. Sin City 2 is scripted, so it's mainly a matter of Robert's schedule
and all the other production stuff."
Empire
The
Hollywood Reporter says that Joel
Silver has picked up "Empire."
The story shows the death of the president and vice president evolving
into a bloody civil war. A single operative is being framed for the attacks
and strives to find the truth and clear his name. No screenwriter has been
named.
Nielsen
& DVRs
Nielsen
Research has published a report that 84 percent of Nielson families record
their favorite shows and watch them within three days after recording them.
The study is part of their larger survey of viewing habits of DVR users
and how they should be treated in negotiating deals with advertisers.
